Since 1992 people have come to the Los Angeles Gender Center to achieve peace with themselves or to better understand and support their loved ones. Today, clients at LAGC continue to discover that LA’s first center for the exploration of gender issues has the experience and understanding they need.
At LAGC we specialize in issues of gender identity, the deeply felt sense of oneself as male or female; sexual orientation, the nature of one’s physical and emotional attraction to another; as well as issues of sexuality, relationships and intimacy.
We also assist children, adolescents, and their families so that together they can embrace the challenges that gender and sexuality may bring.
At LAGC we envision gender and sexual orientation as existing along continuums with many progressive shades of gray. These continuums are not fixed but fluid, and movement along them is not always continuous or in one direction. Like two lines on a graph, gender identity and sexual orientation may meet at any point along their respective lengths. The location of this intersection has any number of possibilities. Likewise, each individual is unique. Most of humanity lies somewhere between the black and white extremes, somewhere between the stereotypes of action hero and beauty queen.
